2018 Church Theme

The Church That Sows and Reaps the Blessings of God

In 2018, our theme is “The Church That Sows and Reaps the Blessings of God.” Our supporting Scripture is Galatians 6:7-10, “7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”  We are committed to sowing the seeds of God’s Word, worship, witnessing, work, giving, prayer, missions, obedience, and self-worth. However, Paul made an important statement in verse seven. He said, “7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

This year we will avoid being deceived. Deception is a trick that our enemies used to make us fail. The word deception means to mislead a person by giving him or her a distorted impression or false sense of reality. It also means to trick, cheat, or beguile another person. Satan and his demons are eager to deceive us with their loyal subjects, lies, tactics and instruments. This is the root cause of the careless and indulgent lifestyle of many people.  Paul prayed that the Christians in Galatia and us would not be deceived because God is not mocked. The word “mock” means to make fun of, challenge, or to ridicule by mimicry of action or speech. To mock God is to turn your nose up at Him while you try to outwit Him.   This is important because whatever a person sows, he or she will reap it. This year, our prayer is that we would not sow deception, but we would sow the truth. We will sow to the Spirit and not to the flesh. If we sow to the Spirit, we will reap life everlasting. If we sow to the flesh, we will reap corruption. We want you to experience having life and have it more abundantly.

Secondly, we will sow the Word of God through our preaching and teaching ministries. We offer our members and others an opportunity to serve, give, and to grow spiritually through daily devotional time, Sunday school, church training, Bible Study, specialized need ministries, preaching, evangelism, and mission outreach activities. We want to sow and reap the blessings and not the curses of God.Last year we incurred a debt because we purchased a new flat roof and a new central air and heating unit. Whenever you sow in debt, you must sow financial seeds to pay off that debt. We are asking every member to sow into our Ministering 66 Fundraiser Program so that we will be able to pay off this debt. Every member will be a part of a group or book of the Bible. The captains have been instructed to challenge the members to give. Our target date has been set and we are looking forward to our members and friends sowing and reaping the blessings of God.
