The Church That Stays Connected To God's Power, His People, and His Programs.

In 2015, Our theme this year is "The Church That Stays Connected to God's Power, His People, and His Programs." The key scriptures are Matthew 28"18-20; Acts 1:8; and Acts 2:42-47. Luke said,"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." This year, our church is committed to staying connected to God's Power, His People, and His Programs.

2015: A NEW THEME FOR A NEW YEAR

Our theme for this year is, "The Church that Stays Connected to God's Power, His People, and His Programs." Scriptures: JOHN 15:1-7; MATTHEW 28:18-20; ACTS 1:8; 2:42-47. This year, we will stay connected to God and His Word. Why? Because when we get disconnected from God and our families, we will forget our purpose and mission on earth. In Matthew 28:18-20, "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Our assignment is to go, teach, baptize, and train those persons who gave their lives to Jesus. Our goal is to make them disciples. When a church does not make disciples that church will not grow and be effective in their community. That is why we will stay connected to God's power, His people, and His programs.

We must stay connected to God's power. God's power can be seen in the life of the New Testament church in the book of Acts. We see how 3,000 souls were saved on one day and 5,000 were saved on another day and that the Lord added to the church daily as such as would be saved, Acts 2:47. The church saw powerful miracles and they experienced amazing growth because they were filled with the Holy Ghost and obey the commandments of God. In 2015, we can experience that same growth and power in our lives, if we stay connected to God in prayer and by being filled with the Holy Spirit.

We must stay connected to God's people. Why? Because without them we cannot accomplish the work that God has given us to do through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. After the 3,000 souls were saved Acts chapter 2, Luke said, "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." God's people must be loved. Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:35). Love enables Christians to put away their differences. Love produces a passion for the lost who live around us. Love makes people more important than possessions. When we stay connected to God's people, we will love one another. God's love will keep us connected.

We must stay connected to God's program. In order to stay connected to God's program, we must love Him and one another. Jesus program for the church involves equipping the saints of God with the Word of God and the skills to read, study, pray, evangelize, worship, give, live, preach, teach, and help others through missions. This year, Jesus wants us to continue to carry out His program. If we do, He promised that He would be with us until the end of the world. When we carry our His program, we will see His power manifested in our lives and other Christians as well. I challenge you to stay connected to God's power, His people, and His programs by following the model found in Matthew 25:35-40.

Your Shepherd,

Calvin W. Woods, Jr., Pastor
